Kid's Checkups

The kids had their annual well-child check-up back in May.  Gabe is 6 and Elisa is 4. I took both of them together.  Elisa got a shot and she was really good for it.  Gabe is very tall and very skinny--87th percentile height and 45 percentile weight (45.5 lbs., 47.5")  Elisa is also tall and skinny, but not as much--60th height, just under 50th for weight (33.8 lbs, 40").  It is nice to know I have such healthy kids! No concerns whatsoever as of now!

May Randomness

Mothers day!  I didn't get or do a whole lot, but I did get some cute drawings from the kids, a plant from Elisa, and Erik made me a yummy dinner:

 Cute notes from my Gabe!

I bought a Bumbo seat for Ian at a consignment store.  The next week a friend wanted to give me her old one. Grrrrr. Ian tolerates his seat fairly well.  Elisa loved hers so much she practically lived in it!

A nice friend of mine gave me tons and tons of NICE clothes for Ian.  Most of them were 12-18 months.  He is approaching 12 month size alarmingly fast!  There was just so much stuff, I decided to go through EVERYTHING--that is, these clothes and Gabe's old clothes in the same size.  I thought I would be emotionally attached to Gabe's old clothes, but surprisingly I wasn't the bit attached.  I was actually happy to see it go.  I mean "go" as in give away.  Some to goodwill, but most to my sister Lisa because her boy Aiden was/is in 12-18 month size.  So now Ian has plenty of really nice, stylish clothes to wear when he grows a little bit more.  What's great is that I have that size in both summer and winter styles, so whether he keeps growing as he has been or levels out, either way we have him covered!

Of course, I took a ton of pictures of my Ian-bean, he is growing up so fast!

Grainy and dark, but still cute!
One of my favorite pictures of Ian
 Om-nom-nom!! Teething!

Elisa and a slobber spot on our couch.  This is why we can't have nice things.

An outfit I bought Eesa online.  $19 shipped, 4 pieces.  I couldn't resist!

We don't go to the library very often, but when we do, there is a man in a terrifying blow-up costume.  Elisa wouldn't go near him.  But she did enjoy coloring a picture and drawing on the chalkboard.  The man in the terrifying blow-up costume was not in her line of sight when she was at the chalkboard.

Reading a book to miss Elisa

The mother-load of buffalo-flavored wheat thins.  Nauseating!

Gabe is exceptionally creative.  He made this Mario out of Legos.  He's always working on some creative project, self-directed.

Church is exhausting.  I wish I could do this, but alas, it is not socially acceptable for a grown adult to do so.

The same day, on the ride home!  I don't know why they're so tired this particular week!

Elisa and Ian.

A video of Ian's cuteness:

 She hurt her chin AGAIN!

A look into our un-staged, every day life.  The kids are playing in their undies and the house is a mess.  In my defense, all those clothes were for Ian.  A sweet friend dropped them off; I was in the middle of going through them.  Plus I was holding Ian!

And some more cute pictures of Ian, 3-months old, some 4 month pics too:

 Ahhh...naptime!

I (we) love, love, LOVE this little guy!  He is so darling and sweet and adorable!

Crayfish Boil 2015

Every year, The Anesthesiology program at UTMB throws a crayfish boil party.  We missed last year but were able to go the year before and this year.  I like that there is lots of free food, drinks plus swimming and a bounce house for the kids! I don't like that I don't care to socialize with anybody there, but as along as free food (hamburgers and hotdogs too!) is involved I'll tolerate the awkwardness of eating practically by myself.
This isn't the first crayfish experience, but since I am not a southerner I still find eating crayfish unsettling.  I don't like having to rip apart a dead animal carcass just to get to a little tiny piece of meat.  Yuck.  And I don't like looking at the eyes or the creepy legs.  But, the meat is good.  It would be a much better experience if someone did the {dirty} work for me!
The kids loved the bounce house and the pool.  We left not too long before the drunk residents got to the bounce house and pool area.

The kids played in the pool for a long time! They had lots of fun :)

My sweet Ian, 3 months old.  Erik enjoyed showing him off to all of his co-workers.

^this is what Gabe thought of the crayfish.  I told him I'd give him money if he tried one.  He still refused!
