Gabie and Elisa Speak

This post has been a long time coming and it has been changing over the past 6 months so I'd better post it now!  It's crazy how much these two kids have grown and changed.  And crazy how well Elisa can talk!  They are only 2 years apart but it only took Elisa a year to catch up to Gabe, haha poor Gabe!

Here is a list I've made on my iPod.  Elisa's has changed more that Gabe's and I'm sure there are a couple of silly words missing that I can't remember right now.  Sadly, Elisa has outgrown much of her words and phrases and has replaced most of them with very clear, normal speaking.  Gabe hasn't changed as much.  He still says his r's as w's and his th's as f's or d's, among other speech impediments that are common for his age.

Ummm....Bah-Dat!  (She would say that and point when I would ask her what she wants to eat.  I think she was trying to say ummm...that!")

"Oh dee-too my bad-dah, mommy!" (my favorite Eesa-phrase!)

I sum mooOOoore!  (she still says this!)

Tuck my in! (still says this one too!)

I love these babies!! I couldn't have asked for cuter kids!!

Galveston Fun

We always enjoy spending the day at Galveston when Erik has time off.  This trip we decided to try out the ferry ride to Bolivar Peninsula and explore the island.   We drove our car right on the ferry instead of walking.  It was a fun but short ride on the ferry to the small island.  It was really neat because there are a ton of dolphins you can see swimming in the water!

The kids and Erik being goofy on the ferry:

We drove to Fort Travis park, because that is pretty much all there was to do that we could see.  It was an old fort from WWII so it was neat to see.  You can't see it too well in the picture, but there was a raccoon by the trash can.  Came right up to the car so we drove away and parked somewhere else.  It probably had rabies (racoons are nocturnal, right?!).   The fort was neat to look at but it was all locked up and it was too hot so we only spent a few minutes there.  It definitely looks like a place that could be haunted! :)  On our way driving out from the fort, the raccoon (the same one, I think) tried to follow our car like a dog.  I think it may have been just looking for food.  Either that or it was possessed.  Or rabid.

I tried to get some good pics of Elisa in her shirt that I spend too much money on.  It says "the beach is my happy place".  It made me think of Elisa and how much she loves the beach so I bought it for her. Too bad she was not in the mood for a photo shoot!

After the kids took a short nap in the car, we headed over to Palm Beach for some swim time! Despite spending a lot of money on Moody Garden passes, we haven't made too much use of them yet, as we've only been to Palm Beach twice this year.  The kids love it of course.  It was kind of nice going this year because Gabe could just go off and play on his own and didn't need our assistance in navigating the kid's area.  Or so I thought.  He decided to just run away by himself to the wave pool.  That little stink.  It never fun to loose your kid in a water park, even if its just for a few minutes!

4th of July 2013

2 months behind...it could be worse!  Our 2nd 4th of July here in Texas was a day packed with fun!

But first, here is little miss America in her patriotic ensemble.  Isn't she the cutest?!  This momma couldn't resist making her little princess a dress and matching necklace for the holiday!

Our first stop was the Friendswood parade.  It was sorely disappointed in it, but at least it was something to do.  Too many cars and vehicles and not enough (actually, not any) candy throwing!  Plus it was too hot.  But that's to be expected here in the swamp.  I mean, bayou.
Gabe was dressed in his 4th of July best too!  He liked the parade more than I did, probably because he's a boy and for some reason boys find automobiles fascinating!

Next up, we went over to the League City Park for a 4th of July celebration League City was hosting.  It was totally my type of thing because all the food was free!  Luckily, we got there right when it opened so we didn't have to wait too long for the lines.  We got free hotdogs, pop, water, popcorn, and cotton candy.  They were also giving out snow cones but we didn't catch the line in time for it to be a reasonable wait.

Here are the kids enjoying their cotton candy. There were also some bounce houses and a petting zoo that the kids enjoyed (I thought I got some pictures of those but I guess not..?).  And of course the park.  And a band was playing.  And the turtle pond.  Yes, the kids sure had their fill of fun!

We went home and Elisa had a nap (or did she...? I can't remember now! Probably not).  Then we headed over to a friend's house for dinner and swimming (well, swimming for the kids).  It was fun to catch up with friends, but not fun to eat a ton after being starving hungry!  That leads to a major food coma :S  And, as a parting gift, our friends sent us home with two Papa Johns pizzas!  We have awesome friends.  Either that, or they had way more food then they needed.  Or both :)

Last but not least, we headed home to do fireworks! Shhhh...they were the illegal ones we picked up on our way through Oklahoma.  Well, nothing big, just sparklers and fountains.  But the kids (especially Gabe)  enjoyed the fire works.  Elisa was a little too sleepy.  We let her hold a sparkler and the silly little girl decided to touch it.  She cried and fussed and fussed and cried and wouldn't stop talking about the "owie" on her finger for the next couple days thereafter.  Poor little thing.
