Mother Son Event

November 30th

Gabe's school hosted a fun event for Mothers and sons! It was a "pinewood derby" type event, with Chick-fil-a sandwiches, chips, and cookies for dinner. The cars (aka wood wedges) were provided along with lots of decorations and stickers for the boys to decorate their car with. Gabe really enjoyed designing and embellishing his car. The only annoying thing was trying to get a hold of a hammer to pound the nails in. Me and Gabie even got to take pictures of us together in the photo booth! He had a great time up until the actual race. I forewarned him, specifically, not to cry should he not win. Lo and behold, he did not win, but he did cry. Ugh. For how uncompetitive he is, he sure was upset that he lost a race. Too bad, we were having a great time up until then. Side note: Ian and Elisa didn't come. Elisa for obvious reasons, and Ian because he was just too young. So I had a friend/neighbor/ward member down the street watch Ian and Elisa. She fed them and let them make gingerbread houses (well, graham cracker houses).

All read to decorate his car!

Me and my cute Gabe!

Working hard on the coloring...

Decorating with stickers

Oh no! His army man fell off! We fixed it.

The final product

The race.  He didn't get last, at least.

  1. Nice mother and son pictures. The fun part was decorating the car not winning the race, but kids don't understand that.
