San Diego Trip, Day 2 Part II

March 20th, continued

After leaving the USS Midway, we stopped at Belmont Park and browsed around for a little bit. We didn't stop for lunch, so Erik bought Ian and Elisa a corn dog and then we went on the worst, rickety-est roller coaster ever. I felt like a sock tumbling around in a dryer. It was a miracle that I didn’t end up with a headache that evening! Ian was too little (a good thing, too) to ride the big roller coaster so we let him ride the carrousel, twice! Our last stop that day was to Hodad’s, a burger joint with a 90’s grunge vibe. We waited awhile to be seated (and got a front row seat to a somewhat entertaining and friendly homeless man, obviously high on weed) but thankfully not as long as we waited the night before. The hamburgers were decent, and the fries (more like potato wedges) were yummy. It was fun to read all the old car license plates hanging on the wall. We went back to the cottage, where I gave Ian a slightly warm bath and he screamed about it the whole time.

Evil queen! I think it suits me.

Face swap with Ian!

Ian and I being silly and entertaining ourselves with my MSQRD app while in the car.

I got one smile and two grimaces. I'll take it. At least they are somewhat looking at the camera!

Hungry kids eating corndogs. Gabe said he'd rather wait for a hamburger instead of eating a corndog.

On the worst roller coaster ride ever.

Miss Elisa who sat next to me. She doesn't know much about good roller coasters, so she liked it. Ignorance is bliss!

Ian with Grandpa on the merry-go-round

I took Ian on his second turn on the merry-go-round

Next, dinner at Hodads! There had to be upwards of 1,000 (maybe more!) license plates in that restaurant.

  1. I'm glad Ian isn't a girl and Amy isn't a boy! Those pictures are hilarious! Great pictures at Belmont Park!
