Flagstaff Trip - Day 3, Bearizona

Monday November 10
Our last day in Flagstaff! Actually not exactly. Our main attraction of the day was Bearizona, which is not in Flagstaff but Williams. Bearizona is a drive-through wildlife park.  We've been to similar parks, but this one was neat because it had bears! They were pretty much free to roam around the cars. There were lots of other animals, most of which I include a picture of in this post. After the drive-though part, we got out of our cars and went in the "Fort Bearizona", another part of the park that is a walk-around (very) small zoo. We enjoyed it because most of the animals we saw were really close:

The kids loved the sea otters.  I think the sea otters expected food from us.

Stopping for a quick picture in front of the large giftshop.

We were very, very close to this large kitty.

We attended a bird show, similar to the ones we've seen at Animal Kingdom in Disney World, but this one portrayed birds of the desert.  I think we all enjoyed it.  I tried to get a good video of the birds when they flew over our heads, but I was always a little too late because we never could predict when they'd fly over our head:

A few more looks at a few more animals on our way out:
Racoons!

It was neat to see a beaver at work

Ian's head was supposed to be in the sunflower, but Elisa upset him (typical) so he refused and wandered off, crying.

Our very last stop of the trip: Lunch! We picked a place right off of Route 66 named Goldie's Route 66 Diner.  It was okay.  Not horrible, but definitely not what I'd call excellent food. I ordered a hamburger and onion rings (becuase that's what you're supposed to order at a diner on rt 66, right?!). Erik got a Reuban, Gabe a hot dog, and (I think) Ian and Elisa shared a basket of chicken strips.  Grandpa and Elisa shared a shake! We left for home as soon as we finished eating because I had to get back for piano lessons, it was only an hour and a half drive.

  1. You got some good pictures! I like the idea of driving near the animals, and they can't get past the roller exits.
