January was a very fun month! Here are pictures:
Michael stayed for maybe a week, I think it was less. His trip was cut short because my mom's friend Julie (somehow his friend too) needed surgery so Michael flew out to help her. While he was here, we went out to eat a few times, mainly we went to see a movie put out by Angel Studios, I Was a Stranger. It was good, but a little intense and sad. I unfortunately didn't take a lot of pictures, but here are some:

Michael went with me to Lowe's so that I could buy some MDF wood board. I had plans to use them for some more wooden cutouts. I wanted to make one for Valentine's Day and one for Easter. They offer a free cutting service in-store, so I have them cut the board into three equal parts. It also makes it significantly easier to transport.

Michael loves Red Lobster, so we went there for lunch. I think its unimpressive and quite expensive, I'm surprised they're still in business.
Jan. 9
My popcorn tower after watching I Was a Stranger. Part of the rewards program is getting a bogo free xlarge popcorn. Their popcorn is super yummy so I make sure I always get it!

Ian got his braces off! He has been getting his orthodontic work done in phases. The orthodonist will possibly put another round of braces on when Ian grows up a little more. Now he is to wear his retainer after school and at night.

I decided I was sick of my lamps that have been in my possession for 16 years. All they did was blend in by being a boring beige. I figured I would try to paint them to see if that would help. I had nothing to lose with them since I would be getting rid of them anyway. So, I painted the shade a color that I thought would look good--nope it did not. I actually threw the shades away (yes, they looked that bad) and just donated the bases. In the meantime, I ordered some really pretty teal glass lamps from Amazon that are touch control. I really like them, they look so much better than the old lamps.

I put up a few winter decorations that I bought off of Amazon, even if I have them up for 3 weeks, its still fun to decorate my front room.

Another request (from the same person) to do some alterations on some dresses. Alterations as in hemming. I did two--this red one and a sparkly blue one. The blue one was straightforward, but the red one I charged more for since there was a ton of skirt to hem. She was interested in an added sleeve, but I only had enough fabric leftover from the hem to make a flutter sleeve, but she decided against it.

After over a year of sitting around in one big pile of bricks, Ian finally put back together his (very expensive) Lego Ninendo Entertainment System. He got it a few years back for Christmas. Erik helped him put it together. Ian messed with it and it eventually collapsed into pieces. This time, Ian put it together by himself!

Ian passed off level 4 in the Faber Piano adventures and was promoted to level 5--the last level! Good job, Ian!

Straight A's for my smart Ian!

I was cutting Ian's hair when I noticed all these flakes. Icky. I took this picture to show him what I was seeing. It almost looked like cradle cap. I instructed him to use the Head and Shoulders shampoo and leave it on for a bit so that it could do its job. It took a week or so for his flakes to clear up. I haven't seen any since.

I finally got around to printing on my Grandparent's photo and hanging it on my gallery wall.

Elisa and I went to kitty-sit again. Which meant just checking in on them. We didn't stay for too long since it was late--I just remembered that I had to check on them and it was after 9pm. Whoops.
Congrats to Ian for getting his braces off, advancing to the next piano book, getting all A's and putting his legos together. Nice new decor you displayed.
