March Randomness, Part II

I found Ian like this when I went in to check on him at night.

Erik was home for awhile during the day, so we went out to LaMar's donuts.  Can you tell Ian enjoyed his donut?
And the same day--I dropped Elisa off at gymnastics and took Ian to McDonalds for something to do, thinking it had a play place, but it doesn't.  So I did the next best thing and bought him an ice cream cone.  Spoiled boy!

We celebrated St. Patrick's day for the first time ever this year! I dress Miss Elisa up like an adorable leprechaun and even made corned beef and cabbage!

Walmart had a huge clearance sale on some fabrics they were closing out since they were switching to mostly pre-cut fabrics.  They still sell by-the-yard fabrics, but I'm happy they made the switch for two reasons: 1, nobody is ever at the cutting counter to cut fabrics, so I have to flag down an unwilling employee so that they can call someone else who is willing and able and it takes 20 minutes.  And 2, I got all this fabric for a screamin' good deal.  Some I got as low as 50 cents a yard!

Pictures from a Sunday in March:
Ian insisted on being in a picture.  I wasn't going to argue with him! He's adorable!
3 Sillies on my bed!

I made me and Elisa matching dresses from Hobby Lobby fabric.  They were a big hit! I don't know if I want to make anymore, at least out of this type of fabric.  Even though the fabric is soft and flowy on, it was horrid to work with!

I finally finished hanging the picture collage on Elisa's wall.  I like the way it turned out!

I made myself a dress out of $2 Walmart fabric.  I think it looks too much like a nightgown, so I just wear it as a house dress and not out in public!

Elisa lost her first tooth! It was wiggly for awhile. One day in March she came home from school at it was hanging by a thread.  We were in the kitchen when I told her to try pushing the tooth back.  She did and out popped that tooth! She was so surprised that she looked like she was going to cry for a second! She got her very first Tooth Fairy visit that night!

A new pretty spring dress for a very pretty girl! Mommy found the fabric at Walmart for only $3!

Gabe made the gifted program! We found out just as we were leaving for our San Francisco trip.  Erik found the letter and opened it.  I thought Gabe was in trouble when Erik called Gabe.  Turns out Erik's excited voice sounds exactly the same as his angry voice, lol!  We are so proud of our smart Gabe! Gabe tried to make the gifted program last year and was off by just a few points.  This year he made Gifted for both math and reading.  Smart boy!

March Randomness, Part 1

Here are a few pictures of random things that happened in the month of March 2018, in no particular order
:
Erik and his little mini-me.

It was Character day at Elisa's school.  She went as herself!

Ahhh, the toddler life.  A box of fruit loops and chillaxin' on the couch!

My pretty princess in her new shirt I made and embroidered! She's been super unicorn-obsessed these past few months.

Ian got spoiled with yet another alphabet set.  He was so tired but didn't want to let it go!

I dropped my old glasses, thanks to my fumbling, bumbling clown hands and they broke in two, right down the nose bridge when the hit the floor.  I got some new frames at Walmart (the cheapest I could possibly find since I wear them for literally 10 minutes during the day).  Here is Ian stylin' with me!

I ordered some fun camera lenses (from Amazon) that clip on to my iPhone.  They're kinda fun to play around with but they're not super amazing.  I haven't used them much, but I should bring them
out more!
The fish-eye lens:
Cute little kid! Nothing too exciting about the fish-eye lens, in my opinion

The micro-lens. It's my favorite, but its hard to get it right.  Once it is done correctly, the results are kinda cool. Can you guess what they are? No? Ok, fine, I'll tell you anyway:
Sequins on Elisa's sweater

Our rug

Elisa's cheek

Elisa's Eye

Elisa's eyelash

The top part of an orange

My lower lip!

A newspaper ad

Our leather couch

Elisa's bottom teeth

My thumb

The panoramic lens.  This one was just ok.  You can see the slight difference from the top (original) and bottom (pan lens):

I really wanted to get a good one of the backyard, but it just didn't work.  So here is a regular, non-panoramic view of our backyard, since it is so very pretty.  I suppose there's a panoramic feature on my iPhone camera anyway:

Elisa's Science Center Field Trip

Back in March, I got to return to the Science center one again for yet another field trip--this time it was Elisa's.  There isn't a whole lot to say, except we had a great time and Ian really enjoyed the Science Center.
The Science Center is exactly how I remembered it from when Gabe was little, except this bridge is new.

Elisa and her best friend, Kassidy.

Ian and Elisa (and most of the kids, actually) were fascinated by this nail bed.  Ian finally got a turn lying down on it!

This spinning-thing is always a big hit with the kids

Some cute shadows!

Elisa liked looking at herself on the TV screen

On the way home I stopped at The Taco Guild in hopes to share with Erik since he was temporarily  home for lunch, but as I was getting into the car pool lane, there came a huge slowing down, so I slowed down just enough to go around this stalled car, only to have that car's door flung out in front of me.  I had to stop. I had no choice.  A black lady came running up to my passenger window and begged me to take her to the nearest gas station to get gas because her car ran out. She said had to pick up her little girl and was very adamant that I, the apparent "chosen one" should take her.  I really didn't have a choice; I couldn't drive away because her car door was blocking my van on the left and she herself practically jumped in my van.  Some cops came by and since we were on the left side of the road, they stopped all traffic going north on 1-17 so that we could cross the 4 lanes without getting killed as they helped push her car to the right shoulder.  At this point, you would think that the cops would have offered to help her with her no-gas situation, or that she would have asked them, or even that I myself would have asked them, but alas none of us said a thing so it was I who took her to a nearby gas station.  She was a very sweet--she bought the kids some bags of Cheetos while she was getting gas---but so very frantic.  If I were in her situation, I would have called our auto insurance helpline, if not that, then at least a non-emergency police number if I ever ran my car dry.  I would not have nearly killed myself or someone else with my car door, but hey, different strokes for different folks.  She was a nice enough gal but the poor thing didn't even have a funnel to pour the gas (forgot to buy?).  For what its worth, that's totally something I'd forget to in that type of situation!   She was spilling gas all over her car, the road, and herself.  And it was super scary to watch her as cars sped past at 80 miles per hour with only a foot or so to spare.  I was worried someone would hit her.  She thankfully managed to get enough gas in her car to drive to the same gas station to fill up the rest of the tank.  After I saw her through, I came home to eat a cold lunch by myself.
