A Trip to Kansas

Just over a month ago (end of June) we had the opportunity to visit Erik's Grandpa, who is (I believe) 92 years old!  We drove and stayed in a hotel to break up the 12-hour trip.  The kids were really, very, especially good on the drive up (and back too!).  They make good travel buddies..at least as far as kids are concerned!  Gabe and Elisa had fun visiting with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Makayla, and of course, Great Grandpa.  Sadly, Gabe wasn't as huggy as he was last year with great grandpa--Gabe can be very shy sometimes.
Anyway, we all had a fun time I think.  I'll let the pictures do most of the talking:

The kids playing at the pretty pond in front of the old folks home where we visited Great Grandpa's wife.  The fish were quite something!
Gabe at Gage park.  It is a must-do for this little train lover!
Kansas was about as hot and humid as here!
 Gabe pulling the train whistle

The carousal is always neat to see (and for the kids, ride) because its so old.

Finally, a picture of me with both kids and we're all smiling! Its a miracle!
 Silly girl.
Gabe waving to the train as it goes by.
My silly Erik in some silly sunglasses!
Visiting Great Grandpa again in his apartment.
Little Miss Monroe!
A very cute picture of the kids and their grandparents!

Gabe enjoying Grandma's bag of goodies on the way back!
The kids love to sing along to their kid music!  It makes the long drive go by faster.
We stopped at Braum's on the way back and had some hamburgers and icecream.  Yum!

The best shot I could get from the devastation the tornado left in Oklahoma.

In the last hotel, just north of Dallas (I think). It was a nice hotel and the kids had a lot of fun!

  1. Great pictures! I'm so happy the kids were OK with the long drive.
