Friday June 19,2020 Page to Kanab
We slept in (well most of us) and packed up all of our stuff because checkout was at 11:00. We drove all the way Lee’s Ferry in Marble Canyon to look at the Colorado River and all the scenery. We put our feet in the water and it wasn’t just cold—it was outright painfully freezing! The kids seemed to enjoy putting their feet in the water and balancing on the rocks regardless of the temperature. I tried to get some photos of the scenery, but my camera can never do justice to how it looks in person:
We stopped at two places along the river, but weren’t there for long. On our way out of the canyon, we stopped for a short for a walk on the Navajo bridge:
For lunch we stopped at Canyon Crepes. It was okay. I ordered the gyro crepe, and I wasn’t too impressed. The fruit crepes were good, at least.
The kids liked their crepes. Ian got cheese (basically a quesadilla) and Elisa ordered a fruit/dessert crepe.
My gyro crepe. It wasn't that great.
Erik and his southwest crepe. I can't understand why it wasn't served with salsa.
After lunch we headed toward our other vacation rental house in Kanab, Utah. On the way we drove up to Paria Canyon. It was neat to see the pretty, striped rocks/buttes, but there wasn’t much else to see:
The buttes were much more impressive in person
I'm not sure why I took this picture...maybe because I thought that might have been smoke from fire in the background.
My dad and Bryce and Makayla were waiting for us at the house. The new vacation rental was pretty big, and I had a fun time snooping around. For dinner, Erik cooked bratwurst on the grill, and Makayla went to the store to pick out some side dishes. After dinner the kids learned how to play baseball and had a good time doing so. To end the day, we made a fire in the fire pit and made s’mores. After putting the kids to bed, some of us stayed up talking for a little while longer.
Here are some videos I took that day because the ward was asking for videos of the kids saying what they liked about their dad. For Father's Day, they (someone in the ward) made a compilation of the videos. Elisa refused to do a video. Figures. I chose the best ones to send in, but I uploaded all the videos I took here:
Colorful scenery and nice pictures of everyone! It was good that the kids had some fun playing baseball in the grass with the cooler air. I don't know what the boys said about their dad because our computer doesn't have sound, but at least they thought of something they liked about him.
