Sedona Trip, Part 3: Monday

Monday November 23

Erik picked up some breakfast items from Crema Craft Kitchen for us all to share. I finished the puzzle and we just hung around for a while.

Gabe observing the Disney puzzle.

A smorgasbord of yummy breakfast items

Later that morning we left to go to the AZ Copper Museum in Clarkdale. It was a really neat museum (surprisingly), and the kids actually really liked it. There was so much to see, and there were some really neat items.

Vases made from old WWII shells (copper, of course)

The kids liked the kitchen area the best. So many fun things to see!

My fat face with an ornate copper ceiling piece (I'm sure there's an actual name for it)

For lunch Erik wanted to try Bobby-D’s BBQ in Jerome. It took awhile to finally get our order, but while we waited it was fun to see a little of Jerome, which reminded me a lot of Bisbee (not surprising since they’re both mining towns). The old houses looked like they could slide off the cliff side at any moment. When we finally got our food, we took it to a picnic area in Jerome State Park. The food was good, but for $6 the kids meals were hands-down the best. Both Gabe and Ian ordered the hamburger and fries and they were quite good. We tried to visit the Douglas Mansion but the wait was an hour long so we just left.

A BBQ feast!

Our last stop of the day was the ghost town in Copper King Gold Mine, which was basically a bunch of rusting old junk leftover from the old mining days, but we still had a lot of fun looking at it all. I don't know why looking at old junk is so fun for me! There were tons of old, old vehicles. The kids and Mark enjoyed chasing chickens and each other around.
Observing chickens!

Sooo many rusted out old vehicles.

Naughty Cindy getting in the truck. We weren't supposed to hardly touch them, but there wasn't anyone there to enforce the rule.
In jail!
Rusting old cars. This picture looks like it belongs in a calendar or a puzzle.

The Ghost Town, with more rusty cars than people.

Cuties having so much fun!

We enjoyed petting the resident tomkitty who was very sweet, old, and big.

We went back to the house afterwards and ordered from Pizzeria Bocce for dinner. The pizza was Italian-style. We ordered meat-lovers, veggie, margarita, and arugula and prosciutto. In addition, we ordered the deviled eggs and the Nutella banana desert pizza. I liked all of the pizzas, but I didn’t try the margarita because most of it went into Ian’s belly. I started a new tiger puzzle after dinner. The kids had different sleeping arrangements this last night, Elisa slept in the little bed in our room, and Gabe in the bed in the other room, and Ian on the blowup mattress in Gabe’s room.

The deviled eggs. They were good/interesting.
This boy ate SO MUCH pizza.

  1. Clarkdale is where Rick's brother Marc lives. The museum looks pretty fun. The ghost town with the old cars must have been an interesting find, also. I'd like to visit there sometime.
