Sedona Trip, Part 4: Tuesday

 Tuesday Nov 24

We woke up and packed. I finished the tiger puzzle with Ian and Elisa’s help. We had to strip the beds of all their sheets and wash, dry, and fold them. We also threw in a load of towels and took out the trash just before we left. Tootsie and Mark decided to diverge from us and head to Phoenix to visit with Mark’s sister instead of coming with us to Douglas Mansion.

Elisa helped a lot with the puzzle.

The little town of Jerome. Yep, people still live there.

Douglas Mansion was mildly interesting, but I expected to tour a mansion, instead we got a mini-museum of mining. The 3D model of Jerome and its mines was really neat to see, and the video of Jeromes history was educational.

The 3D-model of the mines. I wish I would have taken a closer shot, but I suppose you can probably find it on the internet.

I’m not sure why, but Erik wanted to drive to Prescott so we did. We stepped out of the van for 1 min and snuck a peek at a lake, but that was it.
The boys in front of the lake. Elisa refused to come out of the car.

The rest of the time spent in Prescott consisted of acquiring lunch. I wanted to try GatoAzul, but it was closed. Then we tried calling The Local but they put Erik on hold and forgot about him and didn’t even pick up when I called, so Erik went in in person and ordered. The wait that they said would take 5 min took 20. Meanwhile, the kids fought in the car. I ordered the açaí bowl and Erik ordered the breakfast pot pie. My açaí was okay, but there was definitely not anything “breakfast” about the pot pie, and in fact it wasn’t even good. We got chick-fil-a on our way out of Prescott for the the kids and headed on home.
My acai bowl. I think the ones in Hawaii were much better. Also this one was almost $10. Yikes.

  1. As chaperones Rick and I went with Erik and his 6th grade class to Science Camp in Prescott. These pictures look like the scenery on the road to the camp. Maybe that's why Erik wanted to go there. Nice pictures of the kids at different places.
