Random December Happenings, Part II (Band Concerts)

And more fun things we did in the month of December!

Dec. 8
I made more fudge! This time I made peanut butter fudge. It turned out pretty well (especially for not exactly following a recipe).

Dec. 8
Ian and his friend, Edmond, playing their first duet. So cute! I love this picture.

Dec. 8
Gabe had his first band concert since 2019. The kids are all a year behind I'm sure, I could tell because some of the pieces they played barely held together. Some were better than others. We've been trying to be on Gabe to practice his trumpet more.

Dec. 9
Beautiful sleeping Ian, light up green from his green Christmas tree lights in his room.

Dec. 10
I made Ian a new Christmas shirt from the remaining fabric I had left of this print. I know, it looks a little like pajamas. It was slightly big on him and I made the neck band a little too loose, but not to worry. I re-sewed a better neck band, and this shirt will fit him just fine next year!

Ian's shirt in action at the ward Christmas party. Silly kid had a lot of fun, but he didn't want to visit Santa at the end.

Dec. 10
Gabe put up fight about wearing this Mario Christmas sweater. I can't understand why, since he's obsessed with Mario and we were going to a Christmas party and the rest of us were all wearing dorky Christmas sweaters. Silly boy. He spent most of the party wandering the halls and eating desserts off the dessert table.

Dec. 10-11
I made a Christmas table runner for the coffee table in the front room. It started out really nice...and then of course, it ended up wonky, like most of my table runners. I tried to fix it, but it still ended up looking odd. Well, I guess it looked ok when I put some decorations on top, but I don't understand why it doesn't lay flat. I sewed everything the same and followed the directions!

Dec. 13
Ian's cute Christmas list. He didn't get most of the things he wrote on his list, except the Yoshi and Peach plushies and the "berdow" (burrito) blanket.
*********************************************************************

Dec. 13
Elisa's band concert! Her very first ever. The band just played many very short, simple songs (therefore I didn't record any). Her BFF Kassidy plays clarinet right along with her. Elisa was buried in the middle of the band, so it was hard to get a good picture of her, but I managed to get a few in there.

Dec. 15
Wacky Wednesday for spirit week! Silly gwilly wore different things on her left side than her right. I don't know how she managed wearing two different shoes the entire day!
************************************************************************
Dec. 16
Ian had his class Christmas party! I stole this picture from the Class Dojo app, where his teacher uploads pictures of the fun things the kids do in class. Looks like a fun party!

Dec. 16
For the upcoming recital, I had several of the kids work on duets. Ian and Brielle worked really hard on Angels We Have Heard On High. I need to start the students on duets earlier than I think, because this duet barely made it.

Dec. 16
We, as in I, made flower candies for teacher gifts. Elisa handed each one of her teachers a flower and a card. Ian made cards for a few of his "specials" teachers and the vase of flowers was meant to go to his class teacher, but I guess he was too shy to give it to her. Even after Christmas break, it rattled around in his back pack for almost two weeks until I messaged his teacher to just grab it herself! Haha silly Ian.

Dec. 17
The last school day before break! The kid's bus driver (who is super nice) gave all the kids a chocolate bar for Christmas. I feel bad we didn't even give her a card. Ian ate up his chocolate right away, even though it was icky dollar tree chocolate.

  1. Your fudge was delicious! The band concerts look fun. It's nice they have opportunities to perform with their instruments. The boys look good in their sweater and shirt. Your Christmas table runner is very festive. I think Ian patterned his creative list after Gabe's. It's nice the kids play duets with the other kids.
