Thanksgiving in Utah, Part II: Thanksgiving Dinner and Dessert

For Thanksgiving we headed to Cedar Hills from the Blaylocks in South Jordan. Erik and Mark smoked the turkey. While it was smoking, the kids played together and watched Christmas movies. I made the rolls and stuffing and ended up mostly making the mashed potatoes even though they were Tootsie's job. Erik also made the sweet potato casserole and acini fruit salad. Lisa came a little later with more rolls and some mac n cheese. Tootsie and Mark provided the drinks, which the kids went crazy over. My rolls still need improving and the potatoes were weird since my mom dumped the giblet water in with the cooking potatoes, among some other stuff. Despite that, everything turned out pretty well:

The kids watched movies and Gabe also made a comic book while we prepared the feast

The "spatchcocked" smoked turkey!

My plate. Missing the stuffed mushrooms.

Aaliyah has her own Youtube channel and was showing all of us her 5-sec goofy Beanie-boo clips.

Last time we were up in the Salt Lake area, we had dinner at the Jensen's house and not with my family, so this year we had dinner with my family and dessert at the Jensen's. Sometime after the delicious dinner, we head up to Sandy for dessert. Elisa was excited to see her 2nd cousin Isabell for the third time this year! The boys thankfully weren't too bored since Joel had some sort of Nintendo game or PlayStation (or whatever it was) set up in his room for them to play. It was some game in which they were a goose and could do silly things as that goose. Aunt Nancy, Kevin, and her kids came over a little bit later with pies, which we all happily devoured:

BFF girlies.

Bored until the Nintendo games were turned on.

Playing the silly goose game.

Grandma and all the yummy pies. I think Nancy made most of them, from scratch including the crust!

  1. Wow, you could have stayed home if you were going to cook the whole Thanksgiving dinner. I thought your Mom and Cindy would be cooking most of it. To the Jensens we brought yams, vegies, frog eye salad, apple juice, and holiday paper plates. I made the gravy and cranberry sauce there. All in all, it was a nice Thanksgiving.
