Ian decided to do KidStage this semester! A few of his friends were involved in it, so I'm sure that had something to do with his decision to join. Thankfully, Ian was able to get a ride home with his friend Adam so I could teach my Tuesday lessons and not have to rearrange my lesson schedule. Ian went to every practice, but alas, he did not land the role he was hoping for. He wanted to be Mike TeaVee, but he got the role of a red Oompa Loompa. I thought that was a great character for him, since he could be as silly as he wanted with it, but he was too stubborn to step into that role. The costume was super easy this time--Ian wore red shorts and a red shirt that he turned inside out. Ian could have hammed up his character, but instead his performance was a bit wooden. These KidStage plays always seem to be pretty much inaudible unless the kids all shout their lines. Sheesh, for $200 a kid, you'd think they could afford to get them mic'd but what do I know. The show itself was cute; some kids did really well. His performance was April 26 (a Saturday). Erik had his MCO Messiah in America performance that conflicted with Ian's KidStage show, so Erik wasn't able to go. But Grandma and Grandpa went! Here are the videos with Ian's scenes:
Ian's performance was a surprise. Normally he has fun acting and does well. This time he must have been unhappy he didn't get the part he wanted. He seemed to say his lines without much action, but it was still enjoyable to see him in the play.
