Easter 2026

Here is my Easter post. I love Easter! I was happy to have the Blaylocks over to celebrate it with us. Our Easter celebration started with an egg hunt at the park on March 28th. I sent the boys over and had no plans to go, but somehow, I ended up being there anyway. Erik drove my van to the park (why not just walk over??), but I needed it to go somewhere. I walked over to the park to get the van. I took a plate of (gross) food, exited the park, and didn't talk to a soul on my way-out, ha. I did get to take a few pictures of the boys for the 5 minutes I was there. Erik wanted to stay longer to see who got the golden egg, which ended up being something very disappointing, like a scripture verse haha.

Easter Sunday at church was held the week before because Easter fell on General Conference weekend.  It was great because I didn't participate in the music program at all (aside from coordinating it, of course). It was nice to just sit there. But mostly it was nice not to be a slave to the organ while family was in town. Our church meeting time was changed to an earlier time, so we didn't have to wait around for 1pm church.

The night before Easter Sunday we colored eggs:

Coloring eggs

On Easter Sunday, I started our Easter celebration with an Easter craft. I thought it would be fun for the kids to design their own Easter shrinky-dinks. I just printed off some coloring pages (an egg and a peep outlined) and taped them underneath the shrinky-dink pages. All the kids participated, but the little boys were engaged and entertained for a solid hour! Of course, that was because I had a hard time keeping the shrinky-dinks from sticking to themselves while I shrunk them with a heat gun. I should have just put them in the oven I suppose. They had to keep designing new eggs and bunnys haha. In the end, each kid had their own mini bunny and mini egg. I should have gotten a picture of the final product, whoops. For how hard they worked on them, I don't think a single Blaylock took their creations home.

Working hard at their shrinky-dink creations, it was hard to get them to shrink properly!

After we finished the shrinky-dink craft, the kids were begging to do easter baskets. Usually, we have the easter baskets out on the island or table for the kids to grab when they come downstairs in the morning, but we all thought it would be more fun if we hid the baskets around the yard for the kids to hunt. Lisa and I hid them around the yard. Ian found Gabe's basket right away, and Gabe found Ian's just after. It took them a bit longer to find their own haha! Aaliyah had trouble locating hers, even with very specific hints, but with lots of pointing fingers, she finally found it. Lisa and I had gone to 5Below a few days prior to pick out some little presents that we thought the kids would like. We picked out two per child, one for the basket and one for the egg hunt.

Elisa found hers! I believe she was the first to find hers.

After the baskets, we started on our Easter dinner. Lisa disappeared upstairs and didn't come down until dinner was ready. Ian helped with the deviled eggs, and I made the funeral potatoes, rolls, Jello eggs, and an unsuccessful artichoke dish that I tried for the first and the last time. Erik prepped the lamb (got it from Sam's Club) and grilled it to perfection. We all sat down and had a very delicious Easter dinner. I didn't make a dessert (I didn't count the Jello eggs) since the kids had so much sugar already!

Delicious yummy food (excepting that artichoke dish).

As if the Easter baskets didn't have enough sugar in them, Lisa and I put together an egg hunt. She helped me put together the plastic eggs. I tried to put as many non-candy items in them as I could. I put a slip of paper that said "redeem for 1 prize" inside of 6 golden eggs and told the kids to only pick up one golden egg. I placed the eggs all over the yard. I enjoyed putting the yellow eggs amongst the lemons on the ground and some up high heh heh. They sure had fun finding the eggs! At least the boys did. The girls refused to come down. Elisa forfeited her prize, which I still have, come to think of it. Oh well, more eggs for the boys! The Blaylocks already got their prizes in their baskets because Lisa did not listen to me. I was a little surprised that the girls didn't want to join, but Gabe was happy to. There is no such thing as being too old for candy and prizes! Oooh, and money too. Yes, I put some money in the eggs, just change mostly and maybe a few dollar bills. Anyway, a fun egg hunt with some fun prizes.

Ready, set....

Go!

I'm not sure which is more fun...grabbing up all the eggs or opening them to see what's inside! Maybe it's just eating all the candy.

Such a fun Easter!!
