Fun Stuff With the Blaylocks Part I (Random Stuff + Ghost Tour)

Here is part one of a few of our adventures with the Blaylocks, back in late March/early April. I wasn't super good at taking pictures or notes, but I tried. Mostly Lisa and I went out to eat and shopping. My kids had finished their spring break the week before the Blaylocks, so they were at school for the week, but they still got lots of fun in with their cousins. Mostly Lisa's kids stayed at my house and played video games, but there were still lots of fun to be had when they all got together!

April 1. Lisa wanted to go on a Ghost tour. I found one in downtown Phoenix. We were the only two in the group haha. First, we went out to dinner at the restaurant we were told to meet at, especially since we got a coupon for a few dollars off of empanadas. The restaurant we ate at is Que Sazon, which serves Latin American food. It was so super yummy. The corn ribs were excellent, so were the empanadas. Lisa randomly ordered a dish, pretty sure it was the Ceviche Colombiano Camaron, or something close to it. It was extremely delicious, but also quite spicy. She does not like spicy food, so I ended up eating quite a bit of it. The prices weren't the worst, either. I definitely plan on going back there someday.
The ghost tour itself was fun--mostly because Lisa made quite the spectacle of herself haha! She was the main entertainment of the evening! She truly fancies herself a clairvoyant. We were given a spirit box and some dousing rods. Lisa mostly used the spirit rods, and I used the spirit box (didn't hear anything worth noting). She "saw" a spirit in an alley and talked to at least two through the rods. I'm not sure who or what she was interacting with, but whoever it was either came out of her brain or lied like nothing else. One of the "ghosts" Lisa talked to she thought was a guy that used to work at the Rosson House, but I looked him up online and nothing matched up between what Lisa got from the dousing rods and the information about this guy online. We were led by a young Latina girl and a guy that maybe said two words the entire tour. Our first stop was the Rosson house, and then went to an old catholic church, a creepy alley, and inside a hotel. Our very last stop was a basement of a restaurant that smelled like animal excrement, but the main attraction was the dolls. Some of them allegedly like to wander. I like hearing the stories about the history, even though it's told from a spooky angle, it is still super interesting to me!

Corn ribs and our ceviche. So yummy!

I made sure to feed the kids real good in the morning so they weren't all up in my pantry and/or begging for food all throughout the day. I always buy the protein pancakes even though they are more expensive because they keep the kids fuller for longer and are much healthier than the empty-carb alternative.

Elisa and Aaliyah liked to take walks on the canal trail and draw stuff on the bridge. I told Elisa to draw me something (but don't tell what!) on the bridge and I would find it when I went for my run. It's a little hard to see (yay or me for taking a picture while running!), but it is a kitty.

Lisa and I took Aaliyah out to a Japanese restaurant by our house, since Aaliyah like sushi

  1. Interesting architecture of the Rosson House. Nice picture of Aaliyah almost smiling.
