Easter 2016

Another fun Easter!  Having kids makes celebrating holidays 10 times more fun! Erik was on call the day before Easter, so I was fully in charge of the Easter celebrations.  Which weren't too many, since our friends had invited us over for Easter Sunday dinner.  But I wanted to do something fun for the kids, so I made Gabe and Elisa go upstairs while I filled eggs with random junk I found around the house, and some jelly beans and carrots.  For fairness and fight-prevention, I made a pile of green/ blue/orange/yellow eggs for Gabe, and another pile of the same amount of eggs in pink/purple/girlish colors for Elisa.  I threw them all over the yard and had the kids "hunt" for their color of eggs.  Our yard doesn't have much by way of bushes and trees, so it wasn't much of a hunt but they still had fun.  Ian had no idea what to do so he just stood there and watched Gabe and Elisa:

For some reason, I just love this picture of Ian!

The egg-opening was more fun than the egg-hunting.

Then we colored eggs.  Erik has been doing this with them for the past 5 years, so I guess it was my turn!

After I put the kids to bed, I got to play the Easter Bunny!  I had bought some Easter candy on my grocery shopping trip, and then Erik took a seperate trip the previous night and bought even more candy.  Guess what?  It is almost June and we STILL are working on the Easter candy.  I went easy this year with the Easter Basket presents.  For heaven's sake its Easter, not Christmas.  Candy is plenty enough for my spoiled kids.

Easter Sunday. I remember literally nothing about church that day, other than I was there--and if I hadn't taken pictures,  I probably would not have even remembered that I was there!  That tends to happen when one goes every week of their life.
Pretty Elisa in her Easter best!

The big kids fed this goofball some Easter candy on the way home from church.

At our friend's house.  We had a yummy dinner and then the kids played:

Brotherly love

A tattooed princess.  Not sure why shes smiling so strangely.  I tell her to smile and its like she forgets how.
Her silly tattoo (temporary, of course!)

All in all, a good, relaxed Easter!

  1. Candy for Easter is plenty after all the Valentine gifts! That's all we had. Maybe you forget what church was about because you're taking care of Ian. Nice Easter Sunday!
