After driving around the steep hills of San Francisco and fighting to get a parking spot, we made our way Tuesday evening to Fisherman's Wharf. It is a big tourist attraction with lots of shops and restaurants along the piers. We toured the Boudin Bakery and learned about San Francisco Sourdough. We couldn't leave before sampling some of the famous bread.
I had a lobster roll, and Erik had a crab cake sandwich on sourdough.
One of the places that we wanted to take the kids to was an arcade museum called Musse Mechanique. All of the games, jukeboxes, and player pianos still function if you put enough quarters in. Some of the arcade games are surprisingly old, like from the early 1900s. The player pianos might be even older. Gabe had fun playing a few games of pinball. I really enjoyed listening to the player pianos and watching the scenery animations. Some machines surprisingly advertised gruesome videos like executions while others offered a view of beautiful show girls. One even showed a opium den. We didn't confirm if the videos were as advertised. I wish I would have know to bring quarters! There were so many creepy yet fascinating automatronic machines I wanted to try out. This museum was one of my favorite things we explored in San Francisco!

An old-school pinball machine
A super weird and creepy automatron I did not get to try out
An old player piano
A cool city
A very impressive if not slightly creepy automatronic town
The Santas in this automatron were the creepiest things I've ever seen. I could totally see a horror film based off of this one.

This guy on roller skates seemed to be in charge. He would collect a few coins from random machines before moving on to another one.
These player pianos are very intricate and fun to watch. I wish I could have heard some more play!

Laughing Sal. Someone put a quarter in right as we walked in so we got to see and hear her creep-tastic laugh. She scared the heck out of Ian. I wish I would have taken a video of her, but she's on youtube if you're really interested in hearing her laugh.

This museum was quite the place. I never knew something like this existed, but it reminded me of the arcade at lagoon when I was a child. We put pennies or nickels in machines viewing old pictures and out came an old black and white postcard of people in the olden days.
