On Wednesday morning we tried to get to Golden Gate Park early so that we wouldn't have to pay admission. We first went to the Japanese Tea Garden. There were a lot of plants and trees from Japan, but even more impressive was all of the Japanese architecture throughout the garden.
The kids enjoyed climbing this steep bridge, which was almost like climbing a ladder.
After visiting the Japanese Tea Garden, we still had plenty of time before our boat left for Alcatraz. We headed over to the kids' section of Golden Gate Park. The kids didn't spend a lot of time on the playground, but they had fun on the carrousel. They also enjoyed some churros while waiting for the lone worker to run back and forth between the carrousel and the refreshment stand.
Even though we didn't have much time before our boat left for Alcatraz, we ran back to Fisherman's Wharf to get some fish and chips from The Codmother. Unfortunately, we were rushing around and didn't get a chance to enjoy our food or to let it cool sufficiently before eating it. Next time we'll have to set aside some extra time to savor our meal.
Authentic British food cooked by authentic Brits.

The Japanese Garden was very nice, and I had remembered going there in college when it was free. It's good we had some time for the kids to play at the park and ride the carousel.
