Thurber Reunion: Day 3: Handing Off the Kids

Wednesday July 21

We spent the morning making a large breakfast. Erik made an entire box of protein pancakes and a pack of sausage links. I made scrambled eggs for the kids and an omelet with peppers from Tootsie’s garden. I think it could have used more eggs. I thought we’d have leftovers, but everyone ate everything. Gabe was messing around on my old phone, so he missed most of breakfast. He did come down in time for the last two pancakes. Until 10:30am we just packed and packed. We sent Gabe and Elisa with Mark and Tootsie, who ended up visiting the north rim of the Grand Canyon before being dropped off at Grandma and Grandpa’s house in St George. Ian went with the Blaylocks to spend the next week or so with them. They spent the night at my parent’s house in Cedar City and visited Cedar Breaks the next day before before heading up to South Jordan.

Meanwhile, Erik and I drove back home to unpack, wash clothes, and re-pack for our upcoming Alaska trip the next day. Erik got called into work for a well-being emergency to check up on a fellow doctor who threatened to “blow his brains out.” I got all packed while he was gone.

~These are the pictures of the kids I received while we were on our Alaska trip he following week after our family reunion~

From Tootsie and Mark:

July 21
They took Gabe and Elisa to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon before dropping them off in St. George. It looks like more rain to come!

Pictures from Lisa:

July 22
The Blaylocks stopped at Pizza cart to fill Ian's belly with pizza.

July 23
Lisa bought a Cava-poo puppy. It lasted one night with the Blaylocks and was sent back in the morning because no one could stand its nocturnal, consistent barking.

July 24
Having cake for Ian's half-birthday

July 25
Ian got to open the doll I ordered for him

July 28
Lisa took the kids to the Dino museum (I'm assuming at Thanksgiving Point). It looks like they had such a fun time!

Grandpa sent me some pictures of Gabe and Elisa who stayed in St. George during our trip:

Enjoying ice cream
July 24
Gabe has so many funny faces eating that I couldn't resist making a collage of him.

July 26
The kids love eating at Chuck-a-rama!

  1. Maybe it's 4 times to the Grand Canyon for Gabe and Elisa, 2 at the South end, 1 north, and 1 west end. The dino museum looks fun for the kids. Gabe and Elisa loved getting ice cream, eating at Chuck arama and sleeping at our Pine Valley cabin. Also, they wanted to do chores to earn money to go to Walmart again and again.
