July 12
I slept in, amazingly, until 8:30. I guess I needed the rest! I woke up to Aaliyah and Aiden playing “the floor is lava” with the throw pillows. I put a stop to that real fast. We just hung around most of the morning, and we finally decided to buy tickets for The Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving point at 1:30. After some deliberation, Lisa and I decided to try a the Angry Korean for lunch, just us. I ordered the ginger chicken tacos plus some kimchi. I thought they were pretty good. I don’t think I’ll order kimchi again but it was interesting to try. Lisa ordered some potsticker things and a katsu chicken sandwich. She said she liked them, but then she changed her mind and decided she didn’t. Overall the food was okay, I think I would be willing to go back and try something else like their rice bowls.
After lunch we went back to Lisa’s house, fed the kids whatever food we could scrape up around the kitchen, and then left for the museum (which is not really a museum, it’s a kid’s play paradise). The museum was exactly how I remembered it 3 or 4 years ago when we last went. I found myself a bit bored though. We left after an hour and a half or so. I guess the kids had fun. Lisa was grouchy by the end anyway. She was so grouchy; she was mad at me for going back in to get a pressed penny for Gabe lol.
Tuesday July 13
Leatherby’s day! But first, a trip to the DI which wasn’t too much fun since there was nothing good there, and Ian threw a fit over a couple junk toys. Lisa almost made us late for Leatherby’s deciding on some dresses, and then she got real mad when I told her I also invited Rachel, which I always invite every year to Leatherby’s.
Thankfully, we made it mostly on time to Leatherby’s. Rachel and her family had already gotten a table for us. My mom came to join us later. Lisa sat far away from all of us, didn’t talk to us, and left immediately after finishing the food. Regardless, I had a good time. I shared the halibut meal and the Alan’s Black & Tan sundae with my mom. My favorite is the cheese fries with fry sauce. Yum! After Leatherby’s we went over to Rachel’s house. My mom drove. We chatted for a bit while smelling some soap and petting dogs while the kids played. We didn’t stay for too long.
After Rachel's house, we went back to Lisa's and hung around for a bit. Elisa found out she could earn some dollars by giving out foot and hand rubs to people using some of the (rather cheap-o) oil I bought at TJ Maxx. She earned herself quite a bit of money between me, Grandma, Aaliyah, and later, aunt Tootsie.
My mom left, and then I started to pack up all of our stuff that was strewn about Lisa’s house. I originally planned to leave that night to go to Tootsie’s house, but then I reconsidered and thought maybe I should leave Wednesday morning. Then I re-reconsidered when Rachel invited us to go to Tibble reservoir Wednesday morning, which was in American Fork canyon not too far from Tootsies house, and then confirmed that decision when Lisa acted grumpy. I quickly packed. Like, threw things in suitcases as fast as I could. I left a bunch of stuff behind, but I got most of it. We left around 7:30pm, which was a good time because there wasn’t too much traffic that time of day. We got there just after 8. Ian slept in the little room off of the office upstairs and Elisa in the room on the main floor.
The children's museum looks interesting. At least the kids had fun! I forgot that Leatherby's has food besides ice cream. Elisa was brave giving foot massages. I guess she likes earning money.
