Wednesday July 14
We left just before 9am to head to Tibble Reservoir in American Fork Canyon, not too far from Tootsie’s house. We got in for free since I told the girl that Elisa was a 4th grader. It was only $6 anyway. The reservoir was tucked in the mountains, and it was very pretty. The water was pretty cold, but that didn’t stop the kids from getting in. Rachel and her family set up a small canopy and had brought their kayak (canoe?) and a large cooler of food. We had a good time! Elisa enjoyed paddling around in Madeline’s little canoe/kayak. Ian liked splashing in the water. Elisa and Ian ate a bagel sandwich for lunch, and I had a noosa yogurt.
Rachel convinced me to go out in the boat with Elisa. I was hesitant but agreed anyway. We were fine until we tried to turn around, and found out it was too hard since the wind was so strong and my arms are so weak. Then Madeline came up to us in her boat and managed to flip her boat over, so we had to paddle towards the shore while I held on to Madeline’s boat with my left hand. Elisa jumped ship as soon as she saw the shore and walked back. Madeline helped pull and steer the front of the boat. It was a pain in the rear to get back to our spot, but we eventually made it. I was just happy I didn’t flip over into the chilly water. It was so windy, and we had been at the reservoir for awhile so we packed up and left.
Paddling out with Elisa
Brian, Rachel's husband. She took this picture, haha.
My mom was still at Tootsie’s house when we arrived (just after 1), but she left not long after. Tootsie was napping. I picked the last of the cherries with the kids. We were about to wake up Tootsie, but then she came out of her room. She bought us yummy Thai food for dinner. The kids liked the egg rolls and mango sweet rice. We mostly just chatted, and Elisa gave Tootsie a foot massage for $1. Tootsie got real tired and decided to go to bed super early, so I took the kids to Midas park to play for a bit. For being almost 9pm, the park was surprisingly busy. I put the kids to bed, and then I made one more can of cherry jam from the cherries we had picked earlier. This time I made sure to boil out the excess water. I didn’t use any pectin because I didn’t have any, but later I discovered I don’t really need any pectin at all. Good to know for next time. I slept in the basement again, but I think there was some sort of animal outside (probably a deer) because it woke me up with its rustling.

The kids enjoying the park
The scenery and trees are beautiful there. It looks like fun in the boat, but I think I'd be sure to have a life jacket on. The park must be modern or updated, and amusing to the kids.
