My Bunny Painting Wood Cutout

Here is the post for my Easter Bunny wood cutout! This is board 2 of 3 that I will paint this year. I'm not sure what the last board will be, but kind of wish that I would have made it something for St. Patrick's Day. But, I wouldn't mind making another Halloween or Christmas one later on this year. We shall see. Anyway, I relied heavily on ChatGPT to make me a bunny holding and egg. That was really all I had in mind as far as the design went. ChatGPT came up with some...interesting design concepts. I'm not paying for the deluxe version of ChatGPT, I just use the free one. Some of my inputted commands weren't exactly understood, but ChatGPT eventually spit out something close to what I was envisioning in my head and I went with that. In the end, I had something pretty close to my chosen reference, but not exact because I did my own thing with the eyes and didn't paint every detail in the grass. Is it perfect? No. Is it fun, cute, and colorful? Yes! I used the same process as I did for my Valentine cutout. First, I primed the wood. Then I used Elisa's projector to trace the image. Erik helped me a little bit on this step. Next, I took it outside and cut around the shape. I was actually pretty impressed with how detailed I could get my jigsaw to get. I was able to cut out the blades of grass and flower shapes. However, the jigsaw cannot cutout shapes inside, that's okay, I just left them white. Unlike the last project, I sanded around the cut edges and primed that area. Then I got to painting--the fun part!

Primed, traced, cut, and all ready to be taken upstairs to my craft room to be painted!

I started with the ears. I've learned that you shouldn't think too hard on starting a painting--just start! I later went over and cleaned things up and refined a few areas.

I stared from the top and painted my way to the bottom...more or less.

I can't' say I struggled with the eyes, but they did throw me for a loop since I didn't follow my reference completely. But, they turned out fine in the end. One of my last steps was adding eyelashes!

Bunny is just about finished, now on to the egg...

Almost done!

Finished! So cute. Gabe doesn't like it because he claims it looks too AI. Yes, AI cut and painted by hand.

Her she (he??) is outside. I couldn't find the hinges that I had bought, so I just rested her against the garage. I hope to screw the stand on when (and if) I find those hinges!

  1. It's a pretty good-looking bunny! It seems like it took a lot of work to do the shading of the eyes, the flowers and grass.
