Here are the fun things we did for Valentine's Day:
A video of my Valentine's Day decor
In the morning, Erik and I went out to breakfast at Over Easy just north of us. It was fine, nothing stood out to me.
Ian and his Valentine's Day haul from school. Unfortunately, this might be his last Valentine exchange, since I think that they stop the parties in 6th grade.
We decided against going out to eat. We stayed in and made steak, potatoes, and Jalapeño poppers for our Valentine's Day dinner.
I tried a new recipe for strawberry frosting. It tasted good, but it was way to runny to properly frost a cake with.
I came across this (new to me) painting (1893) titled "My Wife's Lovers". I thought it was funny and cute and appropriate for Valentine's Day.
I made a Valentine's Day scavenger hunt in order for the kids to find their Valentine's Day treats. I wanted them to work for their treats! I also asked them if they wanted a scavenger hunt and they said yes. I had spent the better part of the day working on the scavenger hunt. Some of it I stole of the internet, and some I made up on my own. The kids solved the puzzles pretty quickly, so I need to make these puzzles even harder. I made one mistake in the last puzzle, and Ian was quick to point it out. Each puzzle gave them a clue to find the next clue. The last clue led to the final puzzle, and solving it revealed the hiding place of their treats! Their treats were dessert goldfish crackers, and a can of Yahoo.
It's good you went out to breakfast for Valentine's Day and nice Ian had a party at school. Dinner at home and the cake look delicious. It must have been fun for the kids to hunt for their treats.
